The Last Alert Post

Well I have been home now for 2 weeks, and I realize that I haven't posted anything in almost a month if not longer.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years as well.  Things finished up well for me up north.  Christmas was interesting to experience that far north, but certainly missed my friends and family at home.  We kept ourselves busy daily with work out at the lab as well as activities that were organized on station.  One that I partook in was a tri-cycle race, which was not easy at my size!

Flying south was delayed by 3 days, of which I was on a "standby to standby" flight status.  We could have left at any minute depending on the flight schedules that weekend.  I ended up leaving on a flight Sunday afternoon on a C-17 Globemaster, which took us directly to Iqaluit (Frobisher Bay) to refuel and then furtherance to Trenton where we landed at 11:30pm.  The pilots and flight crew let me sit in the jumpseat for the landing into Iqaluit, and that was quite an experience on a bird of that size!

It's been great to be back south again, and with a little more adjusting, a sense of normalcy will return!

I want to thank everyone for the support and messages over the last 4 months.  It was a truly humbling experience being that isolated for that long in an extreme environment.  I wouldn't have made it without the help from the south!
